Lemon and Herb-Crusted Halibut

Halibut is an Alaskan flatfish that is known for its delicate, white flesh and mild flavor. It is a versatile fish that can be prepared in a variety of ways, from grilling to frying to baking. In this recipe, we will be oven-baking the halibut with a simple and delicious herb and lemon butter sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 4 halibut portions

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 4 tablespoons butter

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley, dill, or basil)

  • Zest of 1 lemon

1. To start, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. While the oven is heating up, season the halibut with salt and pepper on both sides. Place the halibut in a baking dish and set aside.

2. In a small saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add in 1 minced garlic clove and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh herbs, such as parsley, dill, or basil, and the zest of 1 lemon. Pour the herb and lemon butter sauce over the halibut in the baking dish.

3. Bake the halibut in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until it is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The exact cooking time will depend on the thickness of your halibut fillets, so be sure to use a meat thermometer to ensure that the internal temperature has reached 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. Serve the baked halibut with the herb and lemon butter sauce spooned over the top. It pairs well with a variety of sides, such as roasted vegetables or a simple green salad. This recipe is easy to prepare and results in a flavorful and elegant meal that is sure to impress your family and friends.
